Reflections on Community, a Year in Rewind…
2024 was a transformational year for our firm. A year of joy, growth, successes, and lessons learned. Punctuated by our move from a charming, but a little rough around the edges, warehouse to our new location on The Avenue in Hampden, this was a season for elevating our work in every facet. As a team, we’ve worked diligently to become more organized, more hospitable, better listeners and better designers. Our work is more refined, our clients are happier, and I feel like we’re only scratching the surface of our potential.
We design spaces, places, and buildings. We love what we do. There are few experiences more satisfying than being inside a space that, at one time, only existed in our minds. But what really brings these spaces to life is the one thing we can’t control, detail, or specify – people! When I look back on the highlights from the past year, the defining element is the community that surrounds us. We would be nothing without the incredible clients, collaborators, and colleagues that bring meaning to our work. We are so fortunate to be a part of such an inspiring community united by common values and we strive to build and maintain deep, meaningful relationships through our work.
2024 Highlights
In January, we kicked off a massive home renovation in Otterbein with Apex Builders Group, our first collaboration of many with multiple projects breaking ground next year.
In February, we kicked off the design process for OurHouse with the incredibly talented team at Surrounded By Color. Our House is a café and play space for kids aged 1-5 and their caregivers opening soon in 2025!

In March, Catalog Coffee opened just a block from our soon-to-be studio, a dream collaboration with our incredibly talented friends ReidyCreative and Clipper Construction. Catch us on-site multiple times a week for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon cortados.

In April, we hosted our first Open House at Dallas Street – a project defined by the friendship we’ve built with our clients – and welcomed a few dozen curious Baltimore homeowners to learn more about construction financing and renovations.
In May, we celebrated the Opening Day of the Roland Park Baseball League – supporting our team, the EastWing Seals!
In June, we joined forces with our friends in Present Company to host an outdoor screening of William Whyte’s classic film “The Social Life of Small Urban Spaces” with a bonus feature of Guillermo Bernal’s “The Place Man” as part of Placemaking Week.
In July… honestly not much happened in July.
In August, we shared arepas with our clients at Arepi in their new location in Fells Point. Seasoned farmers market veterans Harold and Luis Dams took the leap to open their first brick-and-mortar and trusted us to bring it to life.
In September, we cut the ribbon on the EWA designed PrattFree Market, a totally free grocery store in Highlandtown – a space the seeks to eliminate food insecurity through an inclusive, elevated shopping experience.
In October, we turned our studio into a monster and handed out 1000s of pieces of candy to Baltimore kids as part of Hampden Halloween Fest.

In November, we photographed Kings Eye, a renovated barn in Baltimore County that will serve as the headquarters for the Kings Eye Environmental Center – a non-profit that promotes environmental education for students and educators.
In December, we hosted a few dozen of our closest friends at our first annual Open Studio Holiday Party!
